Growing up September marked the ending of summer and the beginning of fall, football, family gatherings, festivities of birthdays and holidays. So when Sterling entered our lives on September 27th 1992 everything changed as he added the sprinkles and sparkle with joy abounding! He loved celebrations! So much so that he was introduced at his guitar recital, “as a party waiting to happen!” His presence and countenance changed the atmosphere of every place he entered! He was and still is contagious and effectual to those who knew him. I continue to give praise that we were blessed to have such an amazing son and best friend. I give thanks for the depth of relationship we shared individually and as a family. The way he invested himself in others is a rarity in this day and age. He loved as Christ loved - unconditionally. My life has been forever changed by him. I miss everything about him in my life! I need to think on the Lord's promises remembering we will be together for all eternity. I long to give Sterling hugs, kiss that beautiful face and celebrate with him this season of life with all the pomp and circumstance of sprinkles and sparkles, but instead we will continue to celebrate him as unto the Lord. So I fix my eyes on not what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal (2 Corinthian 4:13-18- one of Sterling’s favorites).
